Patricia S. Lemer is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and practiced as an educational diagnostician for over 40 years. She was a co-founder and served as Executive Director of Developmental Delay Resources (DDR), an international, non-profit organization for 20 years. DDR merged with Epidemic Answers in 2013, and Ms. Lemer serves as Board Chair. Ms. Lemer lectures internationally on developmental delays, including autism spectrum disorders.  She is the author of EnVISIONing a Bright Future:  Interventions that Work for Children and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Outsmarting Autism, to be published summer, 2014.  Ms. Lemer lives in Pittsburgh, PA and is the mother of an adult daughter and the grandmother of Penelope, born in August, 2006.

Dr. Noah Erickson, D.C. is the founder and clinical director of Innovative Family Wellness & Dr. Noah”s ARC – Autism Recovery Center –  in Boardman Ohio.  He is a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training and Logan College of Chiropractic with a Bachelors degree in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.  In addition to chiropractic, Dr. Erickson has had online casino advanced study and training in integrative medicine as well as in laboratory and genetically-based nutrition.  This background qualifies him to address health problems using customized dietary protocols and the highest quality nutritional supplements based on specialized lab work and genetic testing.  Dr. Erickson is a licensed medical acupuncturist through the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture.  Dr. Erickson is one of the few practitioners in the country who specializes in Nutrigenomics: A biomedical, genetically-based treatment of autism, ADD, ADHD and related disorders.

We are excited to welcome Joanna Patterson and Amy Hardy, Education Specialists and Allegheny County Education Advocates with Allegheny County Office of Behavioral Health speaking on “Special Ed 101 (Special Ed and the Law)”

Joanna Patterson
Joanna received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from Edinboro University. Post Graduate work and her Master’s degree was completed at  Slippery Rock University.  Joanna is currently certified as a teacher in elementary education, early childhood education and special education.
Joanna has worked at many levels with students who have had different levels of need.  Her background includes a position teaching mathematics to students that were on probation and teaching in a special education classroom with students who had a variety of special needs.  She feels she is able to utilize these learned skills to help children and families needing support and advocacy with their school district.

Amy Hardy

Amy received casino online her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania while taking her classes at CCAC main campus. During that time, she became involved with an inner city program that CCAC was piloting with Indiana University for teaching. This gave her the opportunity to volunteer at Pittsburgh Woolslair, Pittsburgh Carmalt and do student teaching at Pittsburgh Belthoover. These experiences moved her to pursue her Master’s degree in Mental and Physical Disabilities at the University of Pittsburgh .   Amy’s background includes volunteering for an AmeriCorps program, The National Civilian Community Corps, where she had the opportunity to work as a teacher’s aide at an inner city school in Baltimore. She has also taught several years in Fort Lauderdale, FL in a classroom for students diagnosed with severe emotional disturbance and autism.  She now uses her teaching experiences to help parents with special needs children in the education system.

Lori Lazar is the owner of Everything Zen Holistic Massage.  A native of Pittsburgh, she slots has over nine years in the massage therapy field as a teacher and licensed massage therapist. Specializing in relaxation massage as well as energy work, herbalism, and aromatherapy, Lori is also skilled in deep tissue, trigger point, prenatal and hot stone massage.  Lori is also highly skilled in Raiki and Charka balancing.

Becky L. (Wineman) Pekar, R.N., is a mother of a special needs child as well as an experienced registered nurse for the past 12 years.  She is currently employed by Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Radiology.  In addition, she also serves as a local outreach clinic nurse for Dr. John Hicks, M.D. (of Pathways Medical Advocates, based out of Delavan, Wisconsin), where she provides venipuncture/blood draw casino online services, intravenous therapies, and counsel to adults and children, including a high patient population with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental and chronic problems/illnesses.

Becky is the founder if Strength In Autism (SIA) which started in May 2007.  Her life’s mission is to bring mentoring and education by shared life experiences through personal and professional avenues. One of her goals in life is to provide families with information from both “sides of the fence”, believing that being educated from a broad perspective can help parents advocate for their children and maximize their options.

Becky also advocates for Service Dogs with the special needs population and will be accompanied by their service dog, Bella, at the BIOMOMS meeting.

Meghan Nunes has been with the Arbonne company for three years. Arbonne itself is a 30 year-old Health and Wellness Company that produces botanically based, Swiss formulated (Arbonne strives for premium quality, and products are formulated overseas due to stricter ingredient regulations there than in the USA which has virtually NO regulation) products that are vegan certified, gluten free and kosher.

The presentation will be a program on the benefits of vegan certified, gluten free health and wellness products (including skincare, cosmetics and nutrition) as well as teaching what ingredients are harmful in our everyday beauty products and how to avoid putting ourselves and our children / family at risk from these ingredients.
